“We choose to go to the moon” – Hør Kennedyene synge

“We choose to go the moon”

Rosella-from-rehersal

Rosella-kvartetten. Fra øving.

“We choose to go to the moon” is a piece for string quartet and electronics. This is a live recording from a performance at Østre in Bergen by the Rosella string quartet.  This piece was orginally written for quartet and 8 speaker surround, and a surround recording was made at the concert. This is a stereo rendering of that recording.

About the piece:
We live in a world where everything can be sampled and recycled, and instead of avoiding rhetorically heavy material, I wish to use it to try to present it again in a different context. I have chosen quotes that I feel are valuable, and that should be shared, viewed and reviewed – and I have tried to make music with them, to tell a story with the material.

Today’s politicians do not get to speak in this piece. In this piece I wish to resurrect long dead ideals, through the powerful rhetoric of men that are no longer here. But I hope the loud and angry voices of today can echo against this background.
